Each canvas represents one of the 9 Bay Area counties. Using information from each of the census tracts in each county, the painting maps the quantities, locations and patterns of ethnic groups within the county. Each color, including white, represents one of the 7 ethnic groups (as defined by the U.S.Census). 1 square inch = 1,000 residents.
