CHARTING 50 YEARS OF WORLD MIGRATION
The piece “Diaspora” maps 50 years of World Migration from 1960-2010. Recreating the world ‘map’ six times in the piece (separated by the white lines), the painting shows the growth and changing patterns of where people migrate to. Each block of color is a different continent (or sub-continent). The different variants of the color within the blocks are individual countries. The size of the block relates to the size of the migrant population.
1 square inch = 500,000 migrants.
